OSGS Recognized in Safety & Security Category

NEW YORK, NY, March 22, 2013 — IDG’s Computerworld Honors Program has named Opera Solutions Government Services (OSGS) as one of its 2013 Laureates. IDG’s award honors visionary applications of information technology promoting positive social, economic, and educational change.

OSGS, a wholly owned subsidiary of Opera Solutions, was recognized for its SignalSensor Open Source Threat Intelligence Platform. SignalSensor continually scans more than 200 million open source sites on the Web to identify threats to individuals, places, and events. It searches in over 50 native languages, using an ontology of 80 million threat terms and more than 400 million associations, and can not only identify threats, but also determine their seriousness and time horizon.

Along with the Internet’s benefits have also come safety and security challenges, such as organized online threat incitement against persons and property,” said Scott Weber, president, OSGS. “SignalSensor has a unique ability to identify and prioritize these threats and, in so doing, keep people, places, and events safer. We are very proud that its capabilities have been recognized by Computerworld.”

“Technology continues to play a pivotal role in transforming how business and society function. For the past 25 years, the Computerworld Honors Program has had the privilege of celebrating innovative IT achievements,” said John Amato, vice president & publisher, Computerworld. “Computerworld is honored to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of the 2013 class of Laureates and to share their work. These projects demonstrate how IT can advance organizations' ability to compete, innovate, communicate, and prosper.”

The Computerworld Honors Program awards will be presented at the Gala Evening and Awards Ceremony on June 3, 2013 at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C.
